2nd Generation Downdraft Stratified Biomass Gasifier

This video details the design and construction of our 2nd generation biomass gasifier.

// PS: I think this is kinda the most controlable and simple stratified design I have found up to now.

Or does this thing even have air nozzles? I don't have audio at the moment on my computer so was just able to watch. I found what seems to be the plans for this on the sustain video on youtube and there were no nozzles. I'm very interested in stratified downdraft designs and am searching for any useful info. From what I've gleaned so far the combustion/reduction zones move up and down due to changes in engine demand.

How would you compare this to the imbert designs? I keep thinking it is the way to go. What about tar problems? Do you have a need to adjust nozzle heights during the burn? There's a neat little design for a Brazilian sawmill that I can't get out of my mind. You might find it interesting.

Has to go somewhere if pyrolysis layer advances too fast upwards. And to lessen the pressure drop.

Interesting design, what exactly is the reason for "char storage"?

Very Nice. Sustain Jefferson has some great ideas.
