How to make charcoal for your new gasifier. One of the most common errors (I've made it) in gasification is to not have a thick bed of charcoal in your lower hearth zone when you fire up a new gasifier. That layer of hot carbon is what cracks your tars and with only wood chips down there, you aren't going to get hot enough.
So here is a video where I very eco consciously use waste junk as a fuel source to make charcoal. Enjoy.

I came across this (somehow) on the youtube, and it seems to me to be a weird, quasi-updraft gasifier. It might be of some value to somebody, particularly those building Kale or Crossdraft type gasifiers.
