I had built a cross draft gasifier, using the exhaust as a processor for the needed heat for the pyrolytic generation and gas separation
The engine is a duel fuel (Gasoline and low quality fuels)( propane, natural gas {methane, hydrogen},and Alcohol) and wood gas, basically if it burns or will combust and chemical separation can take place it is fuel.
I have three particular pollutants I concern myself with, Chlorides, Sulfurs, and Nitrites, all three of these can form acids that damage the en… Continue

BIOMASS Magazine is set to release it's first, full-color wall map featuring comprehensive data from across the biomass industry. The BIOMASS Power & Gas Production Map 2009 will include more than 200 operational and under construction biogas recovery projects in addition to 99 operational biomass power projects across the United States.
Look for this in the September issue of Biomass Magazine.

From Yahoo!
HOUSTON – Plans for the world's largest wind farm in the Texas Panhandle have been scrapped, energy baron T. Boone Pickens said Tuesday, and he's looking for a home for 687 giant wind turbines.
Pickens has already ordered the turbines, which can stand 400 feet tall — taller than most 30-story buildings.
"When I start receiving those turbines, I've got to ... like I said, my garage won't hold them," the legendary Texas oilman said. "They've got to go someplace."
Pickens' company M… Continue

I just watched David Blume's "Alcohol Can Be a Gas" video last night and it got me thinking about the potential synergies between alcohol production and gasification. The video is 2 hours and 40 minutes of great info that ranges from U.S. history to permaculture to completing natural cycles. As you look at the structure of biomass you see that plants use photosynthesis to create complex chains from sugars.
Here is the order:

Saw this on Yahoo! It seems like gasification may get a boost from this proposed legislation as long as the carbon crusaders don't get too stupid. Good ideas invariably become bad ideologies. Carbon is apart of the cycle. We don't need a war on carbon. How would it fight back? With a bankrupt government getting its hands into everything it wont be too much longer now. Have your gardens planted before the Chinese stop buying dollars.

Yesterday Steve Unruh and I tripped on up to see Larry Dobson and talk gasifiers. It was a good time and a fun meeting of the minds as we each explored gasification from our own perspectives and did a show and tell.
Steve brought his high mass woodstove that he has been ab… Continue

Have you tried storing the producer gas in a steel tank? Something in the way of storing Natural Gas. I think if you can store the producer gas and run it in a car that has been converted much like a natural gas conversion this could really catch on. Not only can you be off grid but you can be off petroleum without having the gasifier attached to the vehicle. Would love to see something in the way of storage.
Thanks

A new year deserves a new gasifier. Next month will be Victory's one year anniversary and to celebrate we will be releasing the Off Gridder. It's the culmination of thousands of hours of work and it combines the best elements of the ESP & CHP into one unit. This is the platform we are going to use as we venture into fuels and semi-custom applications.

My brother and I are gathering info to build our 1st gasifier. We still have questions though. The idea of power from wood is just too alluring. Anyway, I want that big bushy flame to heat my boiler to run a steam engine I built. So tar wont be a problem and too much heat wont be a problem ,we hope.We are still experimenting though. We cant figure out how combustable gas escapes w/o being burned in the combustion chamber. When we get a few details figured out, we will start building. Project should… Continue

This is an interesting lecture I found on MIT website. The speaker shows how much fuel can be made with innovation in biomass processing and agriculture. Although gasification plays a small role in the whole scheme, I think is is a good watch for everyone interested in biomass energy.
But I would rather think electric vehicles as a future of transport. That is stationary electric power plants to also… Continue
Eric (Beamer) Schrack is continuing the legacy of fine food, friends and fire by hosting his own gasifier barbecue to be held on 8-15-09. Sure to be more fun than you can shake a woodchunk at.

Larry Dobson wanted to share one of his latest gasifier developments with us. Its an omni-fueled gasifier with a unique heat exchange setup. Larry has over 35 years of gasifier experience. You can find his work here… Continue
It's late, I can't sleep, and i've decided to be productive.
As of yet I'm kicking around the idea of starting a small business selling electricity to the grid by using fuels derived from local "weed" species of trees, range grasses (those that are left alone by local livestock and wildlife) and wastes from local dairies and farms.
My business "plan" (or more appropriately "thought") was to remove aforementioned weed species from local farms and ranches at costs significantly lower (per acre)… Continue
Hi all of you dear friends!
I'm running a project of 125 kw el. gasifier and would like to share it white you who may be interested.
Any experience i could get, it would certainly help me to go ahead with it.
The engine I'm using is 19 liters 230 kw diesel engine that I'm planing convert it to ignition combustion engine. But first thing first, I have just finished with design of heart zone and computed constriction to be 350 mm in diameter.
One of the problem that I'm facing is a material for th… Continue
I can't stand watching everyone else have all the fun so I'm back stealing time from other projects and work to do a little more gasifier experimentation. I'm on the fence with the restriction tube design.
I'm using a conical type restriction tube that I rolled out of 1/8" stainless. The diameter is 3-3/4" and opens up above the shaker/grate to about 6" diameter. The length/height thru the hole is about 6" with a 12" diameter base plate welding on about 1" up from the bottom that the shaker grat… Continue
I have been looking around for a Gas cyclone.Did some internet research and checked a couple of stores around me. It seems to be hard, let's say impossible to buy one.
I found a nice video on youtube on how a cyclone works http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mxLusfc1pIk
My next step would be to assemble/weld one myself.
Anyone out here who produced such a cyclone himself ? Does anyone have any plans, photo's, dimensions, tips and trics etc available perhaps?
thanks in advance for the info,
