The credit of advancing science has always been due to individuals and never to the age. Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe (1749-1832)

"The human mind thinks but to complicate. As soon as one problem is solved, that solution introduces new complications, other problems that perhaps did not exist before. That was one of my great troubles when I was younger, I invented many things that were very fine, but always I was getting into complications. I have had to work very hard to overcome that".

It's Called EATR!

The purpose of the Energetically Autonomous Tactical Robot (EATR)™ (patent pending) project is to develop and demonstrate an autonomous robotic platform able to perform long-range, long-endurance missions without the need for manual or conventional re-fueling, which would otherwise preclude the ability of… Continue

Liquid metal systems for gasification-based power generation or (LMG)

The basis of the the Liquid metal system is a molten metal reactor ( Iron / Tin) for a cycle of oxidation and reduction of the iron to produce carbon monoxide (CO) and hydrogen (H2) in separate and distinct streams, which “can be used to create electricit… Continue

BIOCRETE (ash for the production of concrete)

Carbon to Cement

I know Ben's not planing on putting in a basement but BioCrete could be a environmental option.

Research was done to determine the possible uses of fine-grained solid gasification residues in concrete products. Due to the residues' chemical composition, compacted… Continue

A Stove So Cool, Its A Fridge.

The multi-functional stove called SCORE, a stove for cooking, refrigeration and electricity generation works by converting heat into acoustic energy, which in turn is converted into electricity with a linear alternator. Due to its highly efficient nature, the stove can r… Continue

(A closer look at Direct Carbon Fuel Cells: the ultimate biomass conversion technology? )

I saw that Ben mentioned solid oxide fuel cells in the last post
and remembered reading about this.

A (Direct carbon fuel cell) or (DCFC) Uses solid carbon as fuel instead of gases.

(Biomass as an ideal feedstock.
DCFC's can use a large number of carbon-rich fuels, but organic waste and biomass are at the center of the attention because they are… Continue

i am a student of chemical engineering final year and a project of gasifier design for hydrogen production is rewarded to me
i am about to design a biomass gasifier.I need ur help
can u plz guide me that from where should i start
secondly if u hav some helping material regarding gasifier as u practically workon it i need ur support and step wise guidance.waiting for ur reply
hope my request to be considered

Have not run anything on it yet. Gas is still dirty. Need to filter a bit before I try it.

2 stroke does pull more than 4 stroke per displacement, but I think you should look for power not displacement. If the engine started as a 5hp it may do 4hp after woodgasing.

Well, its because as far as I read engines on woodgas should supposedly be kept at higher revs. And continuously variable transmission does just that.

Hey Chris... I saw your entry on the SCORE stove. I was totally amazed. It's hard to imagine a more elegant way to convert heat to electricity than this. I have tried to gather more information on the stove. From what I can tell, the thermal efficiency is low... but it seems that the cost of the unit can be so low that this would not be a concern. I think it's a wonderful project.

Hi Chris-That Score stove really caught my attention. Came across it a year ago and could never find it again. Would be interesting to see how 2 joepipe welded together would react when super heated. Maybe the acoustics would generate some kind of anomaly? Thanks for sharing the stove. Need to research it out more as there may be room to perfect it to a higher degree.

Take care
